The established, versatile composer and multi-awarded Maestro Marco Werba is now attached to our feature ‘El Secreto del Retrato’. In 1989 Marco composed his first musical score and since then has produced classical concert pieces and countless scores for films, having worked with Italian Director Dario Argento, on the film Giallo. In 2011 he received the “Globo d’Oro” Award (the “Golden Globes” of the Italian Foreign Press Association) for the music of the thriller Naive directed by John Real.
Marco will be composing the score for El Secreto del Retrato, which will both enrich and compliment the story and the final finished film. I listened to two of Marco’s music compositions for “El Secreto del Retrato” and I chose him for my film. Marco Werba has gone on to score a series of dramas including Anita–Una Vita per Garibaldi (Anita, a life for Garibaldi), and, in collaboration with Academy-Award winning composer Francis Lai, Amore e Libertà, Masaniello (Love of Freedom).
Werba born in Madrid Spain in 1963, has lived in Rome, Italy since 1966. He completed his musical studies in Italy specializing in piano and harmony. Abroad Werba attended composition, orchestration and film music workshops at the Mannes College of Music in New York, USA and studied conducting at the “Academie de Musique de Guerande et des Pays de la Loire” in France.
