Every folder should have a repertory of easy models that they can fold quickly or even teach. Sang will show you some traditional models that are easy to remember. For Family Fun (beginner) classes, you must be at least 5 years old. Children between 5 and 8 must have a parent or guardian pay to register and take the class with them. Adults not accompanying children are also welcome! Santa and Christmas Tree Level:;SimpleTeacher:;Virginia SierraIOnly two more weeks until Christmas and Virginia has just the perfect twosome for the occasion (and yes, she believes in Santa Claus). These easy models by Leyla Torres take advantage of the fact that origami paper is white on one side. Using red paper, the white will show as the brim of Santa’s hat, his beard and his hands. No doubt he will be amused when he comes down your chimney and sees these. Hidden Kitty in a Box Level:;IntermediateTeacher:;Christine ChenSurprise the cat lovers in your life with this original kitty by Christine, hidden away in a classic modular box by Tomoko Fuse. The feline starts with a waterbomb base whereas the triangular box is made from 6 pieces of paper. The folding sequence is comprised of asymmetric folds and clever paper tucks to securely hold the box together. The thicker paper of the Tuttle multi-packs are great for making a sturdy box. I wonder what Schrodinger would say about this class. Fun with Pentagons Level:;IntermediateTeacher:;John ZingerThere’s more to make from a pentagon than just a star. John will guide students in exploring pentagonal geometry with this original pentagonal flower and geometric dome. He will discuss the creative possibilities of the pentagon and teach additional models as time permits. Students should be comfortable with precreasing, using landmarks and 3D folding. Pentagon paper will be provided.. Afternoon ClassesAfternoon classes run from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Please arrive by 2:15 pm. 3D Magic Star Level:;Low IntermediateTeacher:;Roxanne FeldmanWhen is a ring a star? When it's Robert Neale’s Magic Star of course. The 8-piece modular starts out as a ring but if you pull gently on each side, it transforms into a star. Roxanne has a 3D variation of this classic fun modular. The folding sequence of both the 2D and 3D versions are similar. Star of Solitude Level:;IntermediateTeacher:;Kathy StevickCan you believe that this stunning star is out of a single square? You’ll believe it when you get to make your own under the watchful eye of Kathy. This 3D beauty by Angelika Spindler has layers of depth and is achieved by a series of sinks and closes with a Philip Shen style lock. Make a whole constellation of them for the holidays! Do You Need a Favor? (Box) Level:;IntermediateTeacher:;Arlene GorchovSet an elegant tone for your holiday with these marvelous gift boxes by Riccardo Colletto. Made out of scrapbook paper and other sturdy papers, they are the ideal containers for party favors. Arlene will teach as many boxes as time permits, so get those fingers limbered up. Your guests will have more than just memories to take home. Snapology Level:;IntermediateTeacher:;Faye GoldmanHere’s another colorful ornament to accent your holiday celebrations. This wonderful icosahedron is made from strips of ribbon but paper strips can just as easily be used....
