35mm with live piano accompaniment by Makia Matsumura
Dir. F. W. Murnau. 1922, 94 mins. Germany. 35mm. With Max Schreck, Gustav von Wangenheim, Greta Schröder, Alexander Granach. Groundbreaking German director F. W. Murnau all but invented the horror film for the modern era with this unnerving—and unofficial—adaptation of Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula. Elegant expressionist visuals make this a work of poetic horror, but it’s Schreck’s terrifying makeup and performance that make this film truly unforgettable. Experience Murnau’s silent masterpiece on the big screen with live piano accompaniment.
Tickets: $17.50 / $12 senior and students / $10 youth / free for MoMI members. There is a $1.50 transaction fee per ticket for all online purchases. The cost of admission may be applied toward a same-day purchase of a membership.
Order tickets. Please pick up tickets at the Museum’s admissions desk upon arrival. All seating is general admission.
